I'm working on survey data that is inclusive of ordinal (1-5 rating scale), categorical (yes/no), nominal (frequency response).

I have reduced many ordinal variables (those in ordinal scale) to 3 common factors using exploratory factor analysis (extraction: maximum likelihood method and rotation: varimax and coefficient value below .3) in SPSS.

Que1. Now, I have three factors and I need to combine them to get one final factor, how should I further reduce the factors to get a single factor (that could be 1 of 2 independent variables)?

Que2. I have to test a model where in the independent variables (one is in ordinal another in nominal scale) predicts the dependent variable (ordinal).

Que3. Which statistical test is most suited to compute in SPSS? Can I use a multiple regression on two independent variables in different scales to test which one predicts the dependent variable in ordinal scale?

thanks,

Arpitha
