I have synthesized an azo Schiff base using an azo aldehyde and an amine. Now I can not separate my compound in TLC plate. I have used n-hexane and ethyl acetate mixture, acetone, and n-hexane mixture at different ratios. But they aren't separated.
Assuming they are moving on the plate with those solvents, try hexane/dichloromethane, hexane/ether, and hexane/toluene, and hexane/ethanol or hexane/2-propanol. All of these have different "selectivity". You might need to use a little triethyl amine, too- 1 or 2% on the mobile phase.
