Dear Colleague: try to use ethyl alcohol : Benzene mixture with ratio of 3: 1 and determine the product by Gas Chromatography. another solvent is chloroform and show the results. both treatments should accomplish in a temperature of bath-water of 40 -60 degree C or lesser. Then compare between the product of both. take care to use also the time span as an important factor. good luck.
It's impossible to simply say this or that solvent is the best. Typically, polar solvents are used for Soxhlet extraction and will give pretty good results. So your best bet is try as many as you can.
However, this depends also on the operating conditions such as temperature, solvent mix ratios, solvent to Frederick ratios, time of extraction, among others. Hope this helps.
