I am using Biorad sequi gen sequencing gel apparatus for AFLP. In which one a plate is treated with Bind silane. After staining this is very difficult to remove the gel from the glass plate. Please suggest which chemical should be used to remove the gel?
Use sodium hydroxide 10%. Soak plates in this solution overnight than rice wish water.
Try methanol, it will remove everything from the glass plate. Soak your glass plates in 100% methanol after regular wash with any alkaline-based detergent.
First I only treat the part of the glassplate where the gelslots are created, it isn't neseceary to treat the whole plate. after running you can roll most of the gel of the plate and you are left with only a band of appr. 5 cm of gel difficult to remove. I use alconox. It is a powder you dissolve in warm water and with a brush or cloth after soaking the glassplate for a short time gives easy cleaning. After a good rins with distilled water you are left with glassplates without any residu that can interfere with for instance fluorescens.
