Hello,

I'm trying to fabricate PDMS chips to produce double emulsion and core-shell particle (PCL, PLGA..), but I'm struggling with the hydrophilic coating of specific region of my chip.

I've tried 1% PVA (9-10k 80% hydrolysed) injection after plasma bonding, and LbL technique with NaOH activation and PAH/PAA solution injection (10min NaOH, 5min each poly electrolyte, using syringe induced vacuum).

But when I try to produce simple W/O/W emulsion with DI Water / Hexadecane 2%Span80 / DI Water 2%PVA, wetting occured in the several chips, either at the W/O intersection or O/W intersection. My coating might be not really precise spatially, or not good enough.

Does anyone have experience with double emulsion/polymeric double emulsion production in PDMS chip and have advice or a method to help me ?

I can't use capillary microfluidics (I don't have the material) and my chips are made from molds drilled in PMMA substrate, so my dimension are limited to a 100 microns at the flow focusing intersection.

Many thanks for your help,

Best,

Romain
