I am simulating a cantilever beam in harmonic. The base of the beam is fluctuated and then maximum tip displacement according the frequency is obtained. The maximum tip displacement will be occurred at the resonance or anti-resonance frequencies. The maximum value was not occurred at the exact frequency when I compare the numerical results with the experiment ones. My question is that which parameters have more effect on resonance and anti-resonance frequencies? How can I get the peak at the correct frequency (resonance or anti-resonance)?
At first, I think you should check bending stiffness (EI) and mass distributions. Then the shift could be caused by damping (which is usually little) and by non ideal costraint.
Finally, it is your actual beam matching the hypothesis underlying theoretical model?
BTW why do you expect antiresonance in a cantilever beam?
Thank you very much for your answer. My beam is a biomorph beam and has 3 layers. It is expected that antiresonance occurs. When I change the young modulus, the result did not change; but, the maximum tip displacement was changed from 114 Hz to 117 Hz by decreasing the density of the mid layer.
It is quite strange, did you changed the Young modulus on all three layers?
However, the experimental peak is far from 117 Hz?
No, I just change the Young Modulus of the mid layer. The experimental peak occurred at 113 Hz.
