Which one is important, a routine paper published in a journal with high impact factor or a discovery published in a journal with low impact factor?

Generally, scientists give too much importance to papers published in reputed journals with high impact factor though the findings are not original, in comparison to discoveries published in journals with low impact factor. For progress in science, which one of the two carries more importance?

I personally feel discovery published in a journal with low impact factor is important than publishing a routine paper with high impact factor.
