I came to know that people widely use Stata. Why should I consider Stata as a better statistical package than SPSS? What advantages and disadvantages does Stata have over SPSS?
Both are paid software (which is a disadvantage compared to alternatives such as R or Python), but I would say that compared to SPSS, Stata is more flexible when you use it in programming mode. The econometric part is very developed with many programmed routines (within the system or to installing it). Besides, you can control almost all the details of the graphs. Also, the interaction with LaTeX can be more direct with Stata. Finally, the Stata community at Statalist forums is very active with almost online responses.
If you are a researcher from social sciences background, then no doubt, SPSS is a better choice because it is easy to use, gives technical details on all aspects of your research analysis.
Stata is better for health statistics than SPSS because it can calculate sample, perform analysis of diagnostic and better model analysis..it also give out put what need, no extra output
