There number of methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus on ATCC website, drawn from various countries & places. Which is the most appropriate strain to go for. I plan to evaluate functionalized gold & silver nanoparticles.
Amrish, in our work we use a number of the variants and saw no difference in response to our compounds. It has been a while since I have looked at the ATCC website and I cannot recall our rationale for choosing the ones we did. We also have obtained patient isolates from some regional hospitals and, again, found little difference.
Dear Amrish, you can firstly check your materials on Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus Rosenbach (ATCC® 43300™), then, my suggestion, also examine effectiveness of your materials on clinical MRSA isolates.
I suggest using Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus Rosenbach (ATCC® BAA-1556™). The strain (FPR3757) is a clinical community associated- MRSA isolate strain that is rapidly becoming the strain of choice to use, at least in the US.
