In cotton, we found the SSR polymorphism for colour-causing genes in the lint to be very less. We did expression studies on established genes elsewhere and found over/under expression in colour-cotton. We are doing transcriptome analysis (per sample cost is really high) and the results are awaited.

We now are trying to look at other traits. Which other technique can give us more conclusive results (also keeping the cost factor in view) for traits like earliness in flowering and branching angle? Most grown cotton is hirsutum and it is tetraploid.
