I want to start my PhD research on Climate change impact assessment and adaptation in public health in Nigeria.I would like to know methodology to use tofor this research. I need to ask how can a specific methodology helps in defining the frontiers of my research. Can someone share a Conceptual framework on similar kind of research? I hope I can improve my question after your kind responses
Impact on what exactly? If you mean how communities have adapted to climate change, you can choose sites (localities) where climate change is really felt (i.e. people experience extreme weather events), then look at how structures have been rebuilt, how local leaders have organized the people to respond or prepare for extreme weather events. That would be entail qualitative methods.
Am not sure though you might look at impact of climate change on vector borne diseases- key being malaria. If you can demonstrate a rise in malaria cases in areas previously classified as low risk or seasonal would be good for a start.
The question is what is taught. For parasitology used was bio-climatogram Uvarov after testing geohelminth in the soil and speed development larvae in the parasite eggs, which switch is used for an average humidity and temperature and calculates the land in which the developing eggs of the parasite.
To test season dynamics of ticks and strongilida at ruminants we used climatogram including average humidity, temperature, number of rainy-sunny days, and other climatic factors in a particular region and it is a monthly sample testing at least two years and then get right climatogram seasonal distribution of the parasite.
