Phyllanthus emblica juice contains small amount of sugar as well. What are the major precautions to be taken while digestion of herbal samples and determine the concentration of metals in ppb level using ICP-OES?
In my opinion, it is preferred to use the microwave digestion with pre-soaked vessels in 5-10% Decon 90 so as to get rid of any contamination source.

Microwave digestion is better. Decompose your sample properly before sealing the vessels; and for measuring the Hg and As at low level, you can attached vapor generation system to your ICP-OES.
Yes, my experience also uses the microwave digestion (close vessels), precaution is only avoiding the cross contamination.
