Literature says that Paracetamol and Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) induced damages can be used to find out the antioxidant potential/ hepatoprotective activity. Which is best method among these two?
In my opinion, Acetaminophen chronic liver toxicity is more suitable than ccl4. However, most of the studies in which antioxidant properties of medicinal plants have evaluated were carried out in ccl4 induced liver toxicity in rodent mainly rats.
I want to study Hepatoprotective activity after damaging the liver with Paracetamol/CCL4. Biochemical parameters like ALT,AST,ALP etc and histopathological studies. Which would you suggest for this study, CCL4 or Paracetamol?
Is there any protocol to induce damage to liver with Chloroform?
