In Taguchi the factors are continues and discrete variable, but in RSM the factors are continues variable.So Taguchi are better .
In Taguchi Method involves identification of proper control factors to obtain the optimum results of the process. Orthogonal Arrays (OA) are used to conduct a set of experiments. Results of these experiments are used to analyze the data and predict the quality of components produced.
Response surface methodology (RSM) is a collection of mathematical and statistical techniques for empirical model building. By careful design of experiments, the objective is to optimize a response (output variable) which is influenced by several independent variables (input variables). An experiment is a series of tests, calledruns, in which changes are made in the input variables in order to identify the reasons for changes in the output response.
Response Surface Methodology is an effective tool compared to taguchi because it estimate response by mathematical modelling.
