Li metal is used as anode material in Li-ion battery (Half-cell), but in full cell Li-ion battery, various anode materials have been investigated, graphite (LiC6) is one of the initial anode mateial has been extensively studied.

Graphites (MAG, AGM, SMG, MCMB (6,10,25-28), CMS, CMP, MCF, SFG (15,44,75), SNO, SLA1025, NG15, E-NP etc.), soft carbons (ICOKE, MCMB), hard carbons (Carbotron-P, NX-1 etc.), and composite Sn-Co-Ti-C are used as state-of-the-art materials for anode of LIBs. 

And also Li4Ti5O12 which I've forgot to mention. There are some suspicious that Panasonic uses Si-containing anode in their LIBs.

Deposited lithium metal is used as anode for all solid-state lithium battery.
