I want to reduce the carbon dioxide (CO2) to carbon (C) and oxidize the C to CO2 back either electro-chemical or photo-chemical method.
I am in search of suitable material which has duel nature or functions.
Please suggest me some materials.

In my opinion, there is no any material or process that allows the reversible reduction of carbon dioxide to carbon. Carbon dioxide is resulted by oxidation of carbon at high temperatures in the presence of oxygen, while the carbon dioxide reduction can be done up to the carbon monoxide stage only, but not to elemental carbon. Obtaining carbon in the laboratory or industry can be done through processes that partially reproduce natural processes in the carboniferous era, involving high temperatures and pressures but in the absence of oxygen. It is actually an indirect "reversible" process because it is not carbon dioxide that converts to carbon. Carbon dioxide is converted into glucose by photosynthesis, then into complex organic structures that form biomass tissues, and biomass is actually the reactant that converts to carbon but via anaerobic process. In this context, we can not say that there is a reversible reduction/oxidation of carbon dioxide/carbon, nor any material capable of making such a conversion since the reactions conditions are completely different.

A reversible chemical cycle is possible besides photosynthesis. It is possible to reduce CO2 to CH4 by catalytic reduction with a Nickel catalyst and H2 at a temperature above 360 degrees C. Evidently it is required to generate the 360 degrees with solar energy, otherwise this cycle has energetically no use. Evidently the reversion is obtained by burning the methane to CO2 again. Hydrogen gas as reductans, is obtained by chemo-electrolysis of water. Again the energy source for this reaction has to be? Yes solar energy.

I see we are addressing this question differently. For my understanding the question is: Which material is suitable for the reversible reduction of carbon dioxide to carbon, but also the oxidation of C to CO2 (dual nature or function, as detailed in the question). Previous answers indicate other reduction products: methane, formate, complex compounds that form biomass. I am curious to know if there is such a material able to catalyze the process of CO2 reduction to carbon. Also, if such a material is able to favor the reverse reaction, that is carbon oxidation to carbon dioxide. Regards.

Thank you for the discussion and suggestions. My point is, I want to run a (Li or Na) battery by capturing CO2. In literature, it is mentioned that CO2 is converted into C, which is not convincing for me. Further it is also mentioned that reaction between CO2 and C is reversible.
So I am really confused about the reaction they have proposed.

Although not yet applicable, this is indeed a possible CO2 capture option while generating a discharge potential in a Li-CO2 battery. CO2 is dissolved/ incorporated into an organic amine solution and used as an electrolyte in a battery with carbon cathode. You can find details about this interesting idea in the article below. But there is no any conversion of CO2 into C and vice versa. CO2 from the solution is consumed by reaction with lithium ions, forming lithium carbonate that is irreversibly deposited on the cathode. Also, the carbon cathode does not generate CO2, I see it is an irreversible process.
