But nature of current collector shuld be selected based on the material/ power source/ device u want to extract current from. Could u please precisely state that..
For our high temperature applications, we are using Pt wire as current collector and then Au wire can be used for room temperature or moderate temperature applications. Best and cheap none other than "Cu wire"...
We use stainless steel meshes for low current applications in aqueous media, which are embeded in porous carbon matrices. Yet, you cannot use these with all electrolyte compositions nor at all electric polarization potentials since they would severely corrode under given conditions. As Madhumita said, the current collector should be selected based on the characteristics of your system. If you explain where will you use it, you may obtain more relevant answers.
It depends on the working voltage. For example, in lithium-ion batteries, as a cathode working at higher voltage, Ni mesh may be ok; however, as an anode, copper and titanium is ok.
