Most of the landslide susceptibility mapping methods require landslide inventory layer as well. Therefore, for some area we cannot effort to use high resolution data and in this case landslide inventory in case of 30 m resolution image sometimes cannot be polygon based. Otherwise it will cover big area in 30 m resolution image. Can we use point based landslide inventory in this case?

If you are only concerned about the location of the landslide, the use of a point-based landslide inventory is reasonable. However, the use of points to represent landslide inventory will render you unable to consider other factors such as the size of the landslide. It is also important to note the location of the points in relation to the landslide itself.

Field investigation with GPS reading is the appropriate method for landslides inventory mapping. Geology, geomorphology, soil texture, aspects of slope, elevation, slope of angle, climatic data also required for landslide susceptibility mapping.

Landslide inventories can be archive- based, supported by documental sources or geomorphological-based, supported by identification of landslide features using field work or image interpretation techniques. But like what he said Mr. Rathindra the field investigations with GPS reading is the best method for inventory the landslides problem.

According to ZEZERE and al. in 2017, for landslide susceptibility modelling purposes landslide inventories can be represented as polygons or points, the latter corresponding to the centroid of the complete landslide area or to the centroid of the landslide rupture zone. The choice between point or polygons to represent landslides is usually guided by the following conditions: (i) the landslide inventory characteristics, namely the positional accuracy; (ii) the scale of thework; (iii) the objective of the landslide susceptibility map; and (iv) the limitations of software and hardware.
