Because of the quarantine or lockdown measures applied in several countries to avoid the spread of the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), it`s expected to have a new problem in the near future regarding the negative physiological and mental effects that such measures can produce mainly in cardiac patients.
Causes and Consequences of Functional Deterioration in Cardiac Patients during COVID-19 pandemics:
The factors contributing to these issues include:
1. Deconditioning resulting from inability to get out of the house for a walk due to lock-downs
2. Medication noncompliance resulting from problems with medication refills or medication availability
3. In ability to seek medical advice or get regular clinic follow up due to closures
4. COVID-19 related complications if such a patient is unlucky to get infected (and lucky enough to survive!)
