I used to use TiCl4 in a Dieckmann condensation and yields were always high, however some days ago, I repeated the experiment twice and product is not obtained; I detected starting material and decomposition through TLC. I distilled the solvent (CH2Cl2) and triethylamine but the results were not expected. Has anyone purified TiCl4? How should I do it?

TiCl4 is sensitive toward moisture, and that is sometimes hard to avoid. Commercial TiCl4 is cheap, I would simply buy a new bottle from a good source.
