Good academic life requires us to have excellence both in research and teaching. Any teacher is expected to be both instructional leader (teacher) and researcher. Refer Sten House Lawrence (1975).
I beleive both of them is useful for different reasons. Teaching is something you know well and you are expertise to give this knowledge to more people. It needs knowledge communication etc.
Research is all these that you try to discover about the science. It's the art to search and to organise your scientific work so as to have something new. Another skils you need, as management of the teaching people, feedback skills etc.
We need all of them for having a good academic life!!!
Araştırmak ve öğretmek, birbirinden ayrılamaz, her ikiside önemlidir, biri diğerini besler, önce araştırma yapmak sonra hayata geçirmek ve öğretim sistemine katmak gerekir.
I have an interest in both. However, both also needs continual improvement. That is why I enrolled in post grad classes and join organizations/ groups such as research gate
Both are necessary. Without research teaching is meaningless. Whatever new models of teaching-learning: AI, FLIPPED learning, blended learning, microteaching, skills of teaching, methods/models of teaching etc. are output of researches.
I am also convinced with this that it should be done parallel. For a good career, you need research that also polishes your skills, knowledge which is also helpful for teaching.
Both are equally important. A good teacher is above all a researcher who is always treading on the path of new knowledge, experimenting with new techniques, and desirous of making meaningful contribution to his/her field.
