Vegetation is 1st security guard on earth surface to welcome as well as suitably treat the "miss rain drop" having good round shining shape and full of energy & speed traveling freely and approaching earth surface carrying big force with her. Upon striking this guard kills her most of the harmful attributes like velocity, enenrgy, quantum, size, delaying traveling & increasing traveling path etc.

This is the first and foremost initiation of so called hydrology or hydrologic cycle. If vegetation is optimum (even the tiny grass do wonderful job) half of the risk of soil erosion, peak flows is curtailed.

We are dearth of such studies where these important phenomenon are to be studied in real ground conditions. We all like and want to do so and we all understand its importance too.

Only thing preventing us to do so is ....in my opinion a simplistic suitable portable set of system, equipment, or other means where we can take it in field and apply desired kind of artificial rains ( to be produced in close  matching with prevailing natural rains) and generating data bank from enormous kind of vegetation and their mix for variety of combinations.

People have tried many innovative ways to attack this vital research problem, but most of the efforts remained in piece meal kind or just for the sake of some narrow or local targets with limited applicability in bigger or larger domain. 

We need to think seriously on it..under the present modern age where ''sensor'' can sense any thing...how to attack on this simple but vital research problem of hydrology in a simple but accurate manner...I like to invite expert views and supportive stuff if my friends can offer..
