I was working in maximum power point tracking of wind energy conversion system (WECS). The power versus speed characteristics of WECS is hill shaped curve and the maximum points increase with increase in wind velocity and vice versa. Recently i have started to work on PV system. The power versus voltage characteristics of PV system is hill shaped curve. My question is as like wind velocity in WECS which component in PV system change the peak points. That means, maximum power of PV system increase with which component?.

The maximum power point of a PV sytem is defined by three parameters:
-The maximum operating voltage Vm at the maximum operating current Im, that is Pm= Im Vm. Since the I-V relation is known, then it is required only to define Vm to fix Pm.
- The maximum power increase by the incident solar power, the INSOLATION ,G
Pm is proportion to G.
- The operating temperature of the PV system.

In fact all parameters are embedded in the IV relation of the solar cells
I = Iph - I0( exp (V- IRS)/ nVt -1) - V/Rsh,
with Iph is the photocurrent, I0 the reverse saturation current, n is the ideality factor,Vt the thermal voltage, RS and Rsh are the series and shunt resistances.respectively.
Pm=IV at the maximum point where dP/dV=0,
Iph is proportional to the incident solar radiation G.

The MPPT increases with the following considerations:
1. the right choice of the model of the solar cell.
2. an optimal ratio between the series resistors and parallel model.
3. PVP oprimale exposure to sunlight rant of the day
4.Optimizing the boost converter in the function of the system through an efficient controller
Dear Rajin,
In addition to the parameters given by Mr Zekry, you must take into account the shadows received by the PV system and the electrical connections between the PV cells that form it. In the work attached, the influence of the latter is dealt with. I hope you find it usefull.

Yes Shadowing causes inhomogenous irradiance G of the photo voltaic systems.
So, in principle it changes G but in a non homogeneous manner.
The maximum power point is a characteristic of the PV generator. In order to affect maximum power transfer from the generator one has to adjust the load at the maximum power point. In this case The load resistance RL= Vm/ Im

If you plot the DC current and DC voltage, the DC voltage is varied to move the DC power (current times voltage) to the max power point.

Vm, Im, and Is are three imp. parameters to get Pm.
