I wish to analyze the bacterial composition in a food sample and I wanna use a liquid enrichment medium prior to agar media. I have been looking for but I am not sure which broth medium would share the same characteristics. Can anyone help me?

Indeed we took that into consideration. We aim to study the effect of different storage conditions on the food product microbiology and, eventhought we still don't know the log of bacteria on our food, we stimate about 10x2.
We plan to cultivate on agar and count LAB, which are the predominant bacteria in the sample. We will also identify the species with PCR so we tried to increase the amount of DNA in the sample.
Relative to your observation, do you recomend to concentrate the sample and avoiding an enrichment process? Or another alternative...

If the results are to reflect the storage conditions then I would skip the enrichment part. Enrichment is usually used when examining the sample for the presence or absence of specific bacteria (eg. Salmonella) - you can not deduce after the enrichment how many cells were in the original sample, only if they were in the sample at all. I would recommend concentrating the sample or make preliminary platings to see the amounts of cells you are dealing with.
