I wish to compare various detailed methods of making activated carbon on laboratory scale giving the benefits and challenges of each method. The methods of carbonization first followed by activation with Carbon Dioxide is my interest but I welcome any other methods as well. Journals, papers and referenced books will help me alot
Please let us know what properties of the AC is important to You: Specific surface are (700-1500 m2/g), pore volume (0.1-1.5 ml/g), pore size distribution (mostly microporous, mostly mesoporous, a mix of these). And then, what is the use of the AC?
These parameters will be affected by the raw, materials used and the carbonization process, chemical or physical activation.

Yes the range Specific surface is between (700-1000 m2/g), pore volume is in the range (0.5-1.0 ml/g), pore size is in the range 20-30 Å distribution is a mix of ( microporous, mesoporous but not determined the ratio). AC is being used to decolourize sugar syrup. The raw material is bagasse and CO2 is the activating agent
