New realities are unfolding before us in the 21st century and there is the need for professionals in the built environment to look beyond the horizon. Nature and man induced events such as earthquakes, tsunami, flood, extreme temperature, pollution, etc; have great challenged and threatened the resilience and adaptability of world's built infrastructure.

For cold climates adapt the geothermal method of heating houses and public buildings. By geothermal I don't mean volcanoes, but the heat below about 2 m from surface. No pollution and no exhaust!
