Definitely my preferred approach to climate change will always be individual repentance.
I would expect every one to participate and understand their role too , say fuel for cars , go electric !!!

Repentance is but a feeling. Not feeling but as you put it repair, control that is active healing of biosphere is needed.
All are needed. Technological for the immediate impact, Institutional for the long term drivers of change and individual to 'fix' the changes in permanence.
I see the fight against climate change as a multidisciplinary approach. Yet, the most important approach is Individual repentance.
When humans change their negative behavioral attitudes toward the environment, the institutional changes can work and the technological innovations can be used to the fullest of their abilities by these repentant humans who have resolved in their hearts to change their course of life to favor the environment and bury climate change.

None of the three approaches used in isolation is sufficient. Probably the sum of the 3 potencie the expected effect, reduce environmental pollution.
We should stop thinking that our atmosphere is a dumping ground of our exhaust gases. The air has a limited volume and does not expand to accommodate everyone's pollution.
In my opinion, Technological intervention is most significant. This can be applied for corporations that's do not feels guilty anyway, and for individuals, that's do or do not have fault on this.
It is not so much a matter of 'repentance' as of rethinking our way of life. Feeling bad about what we have done is useful for about ten seconds. It's what we do about it that matters. Repair and reuse rather than replace, build to last (a building can last a millenium; furniture centuries; appliances decades) so that consumption be reduced to renewable needs.
There is no necessary innovation that isn't already there. There ixist an engine that runs on compressed air, a technology that itself is more than a century old. simple thing like packaging need to be rethought, with an equal stress on reuse.
That covers the personal and the industrial in my mind. On a political level, we need to focus on collective needs (the common good) rather than economic 'imperatives' (personnal profit).
But, simply put, if each and every one changes how they live in simple ways, the macro-societal will follow.
Climate change is a global issue. I strongly believe that the integrated studies will help to evaluate the consequences.
