Resistance indicates there are chaces that the bacteria being isolated had previously been exposed to antibiotics. So you would need to interact with the community from which the small mammals are being captured to find out which antibiotics are commonly used and figure out how the snall mammals may be exposed to its residues. The commonly used antibiotics in the community should be your choice. Otherwise, you can simply consider susceptibility of the bacteria isolates to selected antibiotics rather than looking at it from the view point of resistance.
