Thank you for your response, but I more interested to add some sub-setup to existing one to improve its performances, can you recommend some thing in this direction?
To make it short:
I think you are talking about classical high magnification applications, where DOF becomes incredibly small.
That can be directly derived from the basic laws of optics/physics and you will barely find a work-around.
You may cloase the aperture of your system (using higher f-stops), but (from a certain point) it directly yields in higher diffraction of the remaining light. Remaining light: you need much more illumination to get an image that appears as bright as an image with less closed apertures. Each f-stop reduces the amount of light by ~sqrt(2).
Thus, having a fine optical setup (fine illumination, optics with good modular transfer function, well adjusted, etc.) you suffer a point you can't further enlarge DOF unless you are not willing to reduce e.g. resolution or magnification of your resulting image to reduce the impact of your circles of confusion.
