I am trying to reproduce equations in the attached paper to creat a SIMULINK model for a Large scale Magneto-rhological damper, in the page 318, equation N° (40) they talk about a first order filter and I don't know where to put this filter in my model so any help will be welcome

the MR damper is as a low pass filter, then you can add a low pass filter between the applied current and the measured force.

If you measure the velocity of the absorber (your input ) and fix the electric current (alfa, c0, and c1 are constant), in the paper there is the law between velocity and damping Force, you just have to add a low pass filter.
You can also choose a second way "a lookup table" where you have as inputs velocity and electric current and as output the damping force. Also in this case you have to add a low pass filter.
In the second choice you have to choose a law damping control.

The first order filter depend on the electric circuit constant. For Magneto-rhological damper is t=L/R.

for a real damper when you apply an electric current you can see the effect after a delay depending on the electric circuit constant. In your model you can add a filter (see formula 40 in the paper) after the input named V.

with a constant electric current you cannot see the delay between force end electric current. Try to use a alternate electric current, for example two different value between positive and negative velocity..
