While doing Data Collection, we test the questionnaire with few respondents and may alter few questions if required. So my question is; if we do some pilot testing then where to mention it in the thesis. Shall I put that in a separate heading under Data Analysis or somewhere else?
In the chapter of the Data Analysis . It May be chapter 4. You make a full section for the pilot study and how, when,where you get the data and justify the sample size and write full resuts of the pilot study . it is an important and signifiacnt part in your thesis.
Pilot study information generally we include in Methodology Chapter. The irrelevant and unanswered questions will be removed after Pilot study and go for final questionnaire. I think, analysis is not necessary for the data obtained from Pilot study. Only discrption may be mentioned in planning chapter
It depends on your overall research design - as David Eugene Booth says I would discuss this with your advisors/supervisor/s.
I agree with Heather Douglas and vasudeva rao b.s that the pilot testing is explained in your methods section, likely right after you describe the original construction of your data collection method. So you will say "this is how we developed our questionnaire" and then say "we performed a pilot test and based on the results, made these adjustments."
