For experiments on induction of the Cytochrome P450 system in cattle, we need to order the dioxins TCDD and TCPOBOP. The question is: Do you have made good experiences with a particular manufacturer? I've only seen TDD in toluen and TCPOBPO solid sold by Sigma-Aldrich so far.
Do you recommend using solids or a solution for ordering?

Yes, by all means it’s practical to order both compounds from Sigma Aldrich. In the past we received TCDD from such pioneers in the field as Drs. Poland, Nebert and Gelboin, who in turn, ordered it from semi-military sources (and Monsanto). But nowadays, TCDD, as well as TCPOBOP both are more reliable (in terms of obtaining repeating results in different labs) to order from Sigma Aldrich. In particular, TCPOBOP ≥98% (HPLC), solid, is soluble in DMSO at a concentration that is greater than 10 mg/ml. As for 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin, they sell it as an analytical standard - is a single component solution 10 μg/mL 2,3,7,8-TCDD in toluene, packaging in ampules of 1 mL.
