I need to purchase non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) fresh tissues and matched blood. I am looking for a company in Europe (preferably in Germany). Moreover I would like to know which is the maximum time delivery that enable to isolate viable T cells from the blood. Has anyone experience with a delivery longer than 24 hours? Is it preferable a shipment at room temperature or at +4C?

I can't say for Germany, but in the UK, we contact the blood transfusion service and they supply us with buffy coats from which to extract cells. Generally, the longer you have to wait, the more likely the cells you extract will not be functional. One of the sources of variability is that you often don't know how such preparation have been treated, though I don't think that we've ever received anything more than 24 hrs after isolation.
For shipment temperature, it depends on your preparation! If it's whole blood, room temperature is better. If it's a buffy coat or PBMC, then 4˚C is better.

I just noted your looking for cancer samples! Sorry - my answer was for healthy bloods. It's not in Germany, but you could try the Wales Cancer Bank for NSCLC samples (http://biosampledirectory.ncri.org.uk/collections/87).

Hi Alessia,
the best you could do is to establish a collaboration with the thoracic surgery department in your city. I receive samples from the surgery dept. Lung tumors are transported in PBS on ice. U should use them asap. I have noticed that if they are arriving even 6 hours post surgery, the tissues are softened and somehow necrotic. In this case u might lose a lot of cells of your interest. Any commercial source might get delayed in transportation and clearance of certain legal regulations, etc.
