I am interested in the structure of squamous epithelia of long-lived mammals other than humans. Rodents are the main animal model for these epithelia but there are many differences between rodents and humans. Therefore, I have become interested in squamous epithelia, especially the oral mucosa/tongue, of mammals with similar life spans as humans. Are there any publications, pictures, histology? Are there any tissue banks for such animals?

Do you k wo whether there is already an existing tissue bank? It seems nobody is collecting and storing material from all these animals, any animal, that is useful for the 21st century science, for molecular biology.
I assume you are talking about whales and relatives and not elephants! What kind of species are available?

the resolution should allow for the identification of mitotic figures to determine which cell layer is proliferative.
