I am working on atmospheric modeling using AERMOD and I find it difficult to find the heights of various buildings surrounding the emission sites, especially in areas that cannot be represented in 3D on google earth. Is there another way of finding the height?
When I did dispersion modeling for traffic emissions, I went to the area and took my laser distance meter with me. You can always estimate the building height from the number of floors, but measuring it can make all the difference. It is useful not to rely on maps and on Google. Quite regularly I found that maps have not been updated and Google indicated buildings that were no longer there (or new ones have been built).
Usually, the floor height of one floor in high-rise buildings is 3.5 m approx. You can estimate the building height by knowing the number of floors.

I guess that your government will have this type of data as well?
Else, you will have to do data searches internationally for the region you are interested in.
