Dear Siva the fact that a vaccine is able to stimulate Th cells is good thing per se, however is not sufficient to predict its clinical efficiency. Then my answer is rather that stimulation of Th cells is needed but not sufficient to claim that a vaccine is a good vaccine.
If the vaccine is to be evaluated, should find that people vaccinated responds to the particular vaccine.
The simple answer is that a good vaccine is one which does what it is designed to do. This is usually to protect against the disease although it could also be to prevent transmission of the pathogen. How it does this is secondary. Some vaccines, such as polysaccharide vaccines, can achieve a degree of protection without stimulating Th cells, so it's not always true that Th stimulation is needed, and as Jean-Daniel said it is certainly not always sufficient. In some cases you will need a potent Th1 response, in others a sufficient antibody titre will be good enough, sometimes you may need a CTL response. Everything depends on the pathogen you are trying to protect against or the disease you are trying to treat in the case of therapeutic vaccines.
