Hello everyone:
I am doing a study on a thermal-structure coupled analysis with ABAQUS, I choose the step "Coupled temp-displacement", and it seems to work fine. However, some other people choose the step "dynamic temp-disp explicit", their results are quite different from mine. I have run short of reasons to justify my use of this analysis and how can I prove that my analysis is correct?

'Coupled temp-disp' is used for thermo-mechanical process which does not involve large deformations or is relatively static throughout whereas the 'dynamic, temp-disp, explicit' is used specifically for a highly nonlinear process in which elements undergo extreme deformation. The explicit algorithm allows for handling of these large distortions and is computationally expensive.
The choice of step type is entirely dependent on what process you are trying to simulate. Moreover there a few more differences between the mentioned step types for which you should refer the ABAQUS documentation, preferably Users guide and Analysis users guide.
