I am working on RT-Lab Real time simulator, but is there an other one?
Look at DSpace and RTDS and ABBPEC800.
RTDS is a digital Power System simulator. It can simulate distributed power systems. DSpace is more for simulating stand alone controllers or systems and may be used in conjunction with RTDS.
Some also use RTDS and ABBPEC800 for power system network and local controller / system design / simulation.
RTDS allows one to say simulate a long or large power system say 400 km apart but interface to controllers at either end in the lab.
DSpace and RTDs allow freely programmable FPGA and can simulate power electronic inverters and AC motors in FPGA just like RT-Lab.
Yeah you are right but also RT-LAB’s flexibility and scalability allow it to be used for any real-time simulation up to 2 microsecond speed of execution without overrun if you have multi cores.
It depends on your research. In our research we needed real hardware in the loop. So besides the RT-Lab RTDS we have added a Triphase system. With the increase of smart grid research more and more device which pretend to have same functionality as de RTDS. Our partner uses a Opal-RT system which is also doing the (RES) simulations perfect.
RTDS-Real Time Digital Simulator from Opal-RT system is for me the best one but is expensive.
