Does anyone do the reaserch about graphitic carbon materials,if you want to make a beatiful TEM image ,what you can do for a thin and good tem-sample?I want to make my sample thiner and like one layer graphene. I have tried to exfoliation it by NMP , even adding NaOH,SDBS,SDS . How can I obtain a good TEM image.
What kind of samples do you have? Is it a monolith graphite? What is a sample preparation process?
I prepare my sample by carbonized polymer . But my sample like amphours carbon.
Amphours? May be did you mean "amorphous"? :)
If you make the conventional ultrathin sections by an ultramicrotomy they have a thickness nearly 50 nm. It is 50+ times more than single layer graphene. It is fundamentally impossible to have a thickness like graphene for amorphous carbon, but you can use the ion etching technique for decreasing of thickness.
With newly designed and patented grids, it is possible to view specimens using the grid itself as a support. No carbon or former support is needed!
