Due to the nature of dissolved organic materials which is dependent on climate change, the best method to explore is mass spectrometry techniques for organic compounds in conjuction with chromatographic separation.

you may have already done it but, personally, I would characterize the hydrophobic properties of the coating by measuring the contact angle and the surface chemical part using FT-IR with an ATR accessory. An evaluation of these parameters could also be interesting as a function of the exposure time in a corrosive solution (eg NaCl 3.5% wt).

Dear Mr. Pierluigi Traverso, I already did stability tests in harsh conditions (low to high pH). My problem is when I want to do the XRD test, the samples should be crystallized. My coating is organic-based SiO2 included, so XRD just shows me the peaks of stainless steel mesh, not the coating. For FTIR the operator said your mesh is not flat to check its bonds. How can I address it?
