My peptide is 8 a.a. long and composed of arginine only, with no free amine at N-terminus. Would it be possible to use a normal protein assay kit for sensitive detection? I am considering nanoorange or BCA (reducing agent compatible, as I also need compatability with EDTA, SDS and TCEP).

I have had an old "souvenir" from my biochemistry course on the SAKAGUCHI reaction (alpha-naphtol/ ClONa) for the very sensitive detection of arginine, due to the guanidine group.
