I think its either by using the volume equation of pyramids , since the maxillary sinus is pyramidal shape, or we could use the CBCT software to obtain the direct measurement of the sinus volume. if the CBCT software is not upgraded then you can use 3D doctors software to calculate the volume.
You could use a thresholding function to mark out the volume in 3D Slicer. 3D slicer is downloadable, free imaging software, specifically for use with dicom files.
