Isn’t that grateful that everyone knows how to make a phone, know what are capacitors and transistors used in computers. Maybe China is ahead of all because they can make one at home despite availability of all materials at cheaper cost.
It looks interesting. But practically it may be feasible. Technology has not yet become that much user friendly. Also many other constraints are there.
Yes, Mam Aisha Abubakar Shema the initial OS would be the one which is already secure and available in market. It maybe insecure if there is a problem in the hardware or there is a security breach.
I remember that when I was in the college, I once read a writing by A.G. Gardiner. In that writing, the author wrote that it is the rareness of a thing that makes it treasured. If diamonds were as plentiful as pebbles, we should not have stopped to pick them up. Going by this theory, if we are able to make smart phones in our homes, then smart phones will become "unsmart phones" or probably "non-smart phones". They will lose their importance, significance and so called smartness.
Then some new type of product will be introduced in the market that will take the place of the smartphones. Demand will be created for that new type of product. This line of business will again become dependent on technological superiority. This is because a lot of R& D will have to be pursued to develop that new product and the firm who would be able to develop the new product will rule the market.
Agree Hermann Gruenwald , it will be cheaper to buy than to build one. But on the other hand if you build one, than you can customized as you like. Another problem is IP problem, a smartphone have so many IP related system, and not all is available in your country due to embargo, trade restriction, etc
I think that it is a revolutionary idea really worth considering. However, in 2016 there was a Moto Z phone made by Motorola with different mods like JBL SoundBoost speakers mod or even Moto Insta-Share Projector. It was not very successful. I know, this was quite a different concept. However, I predict real problems with OS (some kind of Android?), performance, and reliability.
