Is there any article that provides good insight on the procedure for reaching an analytical solution of this problem, especially when heat is applied at the wall of the cylindrical pipe and the conduit is filled with solid (non-porous) ? The thickness of the wall may be ignored. The cylinder is semi-infinite in nature with a small diameter and a very large length.

This is a classical problem addressed in nearly all mechanical and chemical engineering heat transfer texts. See, for example, Chapter 5.6 of Bergman, Lavine, Incropera, and Dewitt Fundamentals of Heat Transfer, 7th ed. (or corresponding section of newer edition). They discuss both exact and approximate solutions with several different boundary conditions.
