I am interested in researchers’ experiences, feedback and comments regarding co-authorship (perhaps with an article in mind).

The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors. Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals Updated December 2017 provides guidance:

Authors: Have to have made; Substantial contributions to the conception or design/Drafting the work or revising it critically for important/Final approval of the version to be published/Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

‘Non-Author Contributors’ should be acknowledged. (Access to patients, provision of samples, providing funding, head of group or department do not warrant authorship but acknowledgement).

A quick PubMed search shows many authors with over 1000 publications, some generating more than one paper a week.

Is this possible given the ICMJE guidance?
