Hi! I would like to assess the effect of a hydrophobic agent on the mice eye by administering it topically and subconjunctivally. There are few previous works using 0.2% ethanol based vehicle for administering the same substance, but I suspect the toxicity it may have for the corneal epithelium. I would be glad if I can have your kind suggestions. Thanks.

We recently used a vehicle solution for dexamethasone (which is very hard to dissolve) solution preparation and subconjunctival injections. I would suggest you give a shot to that. It's non toxic to cornea. The link to the paper describing vehicle solution is here. It's a little hard to make vehicle solution but it worked perfectly for us.

I appreciate your answer. I was wondering if you have any reference showing safety of this vehicle. I see the vehicle you used contains Benzyl alcohol which could lead to keratopathy, although I am not sure about the toxicity of benzyl alcohol in this concentration either.
