I am interested in different treatment modalities that are used for men with breast cancers. I will also highly appreciate if you can share relevant research on this topic as well. Many thanks in advance!
According to the American Cancer Society, treatment of male breast cancer traditionally mirrors the management of female breast cancer with regard to surgery, adjuvant therapy, and radiation, but with a time lag. It should follow a Multi-disciplinary Team approach; in conjunction with Surgeon, Radiologist, Radiotherapist, Nuclear physicians, Pathologist, Oncologist, Oncology-care Nurses, Psychologist, Therapist, Anesthesiologist, etc.
The treatment modalities include Surgery in the form of mastectomy or otherwise, Chemotherapy, and Radiotherapy –as neo-adjuvant or adjuvant therapy; Hormonal and Immunotherapy. There is anecdotal treatment- not evidence-based but the generally acceptable care to the breast.

The breast cancer treatment is similar in both, female and male. And this treatment may change by the stage, molecular profile (the last TNM by the AJCC).
The options are medical treatment (chemotherapy, anti-hormones, anti-her2, inmunotherapy), surgical options are more limited, normally in the male the surgery is a radical mastectomy w/wo sentinel node Vs LAD, and the third option like treatment is the radiotherapy.
Treatments are chosen based on estrogen receptor/progesterone receptor and HER2 status just as in female breast cancer. However, it is true that males are underrepresented in breast cancer clinical trials and many a times excluded. For example, the benefit of 21-gene assay in selecting patients who will not require chemotherapy is not studied among males breast cancer patients.
