I am doing titration of sucrose stearate in DMSO solution. I had tried using ethanolic KOH and NAOH but when i titrate the control, the volume of titrant does not follow the theory volume. So, what titrant should i use? TQ
Sucrose stearate is not an acid. It is an ester. So you cannot titrate it with NaOH or KOH. Instead, do a back titration. Add an excess amount of ethanolic NaOH or KOH. Reflux. Then titrate the remaining base with an acid (HCl).
In that case you can titrate it with ethanolic KOH to determine the remaining fatty acid in the reaction mixture. If you still unclear can email me [email protected].
