I have been working on a paper on the role of new media (specially social media) in democracy. My emphasis is on the role of social media in Indian Democracy. But could not able to use a theoretical framework to relate on. I am mainly looking at whether social media is sustaining or challenging democracy!! I need suggestions on theory and also methodology to the study.

Dear Chuchengfa Gogol, the theories you should look at theories of the public sphere. Many studies suggest that social media fragment the public sphere in echo chambers.
