Funding has hit new lows and many of us are not surviving. Many colleagues have lost jobs or moved to other countries. What are you doing to keep going? Do you have suggestions that might provide solutions for at least some? Are there things you have found helpful to keep your research going without changing jobs or countries?
One possibility is to team up for writing joint grant applications (and perhaps sharing lab facilties in some cases) with the other colleagues, be it from the same university or from elsewhere.

At the end of any project, the researcher may left with some equipment, chemicals, glassware etc. I think during funding crisis, one can utilize these for research. Secondly one should make an efforts to have another project in hand before the completion of the running project. One should also think on the related research disciplines/lines involving little or no funding.

I like Artur's idea that we get together to help each other while making more progress.
I do agree with the joined writing efforts. It seems that larger groups with a variety of expertise may acquire some lrger grants and share the funds accordingly. Also establishing connections betwwen researchers is a must in order to share expertise dnd facilities where possible. Unfortunately scientists and especially academic scientists still do not follow that path. I will be happy to discuss with people with the same interests or in order to exchange ideas and perform inter-disciplinary work

Dear All,
This a good question but, unfortunately, scientists’ opportunities are limited as used to be. We should work more, and more efficiently using less material and energy as good servants of the actual masters.
Another opportunity is to help each other locally and globally in a new manner which may lead to a better scientific performance. Of course, this desperately needs a radical ethical change in our mind to overcome our bad temper (envy, bad will, cheatings etc.).
The third chance would be to transform the world and to take the power from the hands of ignorant and corrupt politicians and to rule for the welfare and prosperity of humanity and the biosphere.
